The next Speedway action at Mildenhall Speedway (proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery) is on Sunday 19th. June when West Row plays host to a special meeting being staged in memory of former Fen Tigers’ favourite, the late Danny Ayres.

‘Danny’s Day’ as the benefit meeting is being styled by it's organisers (separate from the Mildenhall club) has an earlier start time of 2pm and will feature 29 races - split into the main meeting of 16 riders over 20 heats with a semi-final and a Grand Final; plus a mini-match of two teams of four riders each racing over six heats then a Grand Final for the top two scorers from each side.

Confirmed riders are: Fen Tigers’ James Shanes; plus an all star field including a number of former Mildenhall favourites, Danny King, Richard Lawson, Ben Barker, Ben Morley, Lee Complin, Alfie Bowtell, Connor Coles, Connor Mountain, Cameron Heeps, Zaine Kennedy, Jacob Hook, Kye Thomsen, James Wright, George Congreve and Jake Allen in the main meeting.

In the mini meeting confirmed are current Fen Tigers, Sam Bebee, Alex Spooner, Luke Muff and Jack Kingston plus Nathan Stoneman & Nick Laurence with two more lined up to take part.

In addition to the racing there will be children’s entertainment including face painting, cartoon characters and mascots plus a magician with sweet stalls, with gates opening at 12.30pm to allow plenty of time for all the fun on what is, of course, Father’s Day..

Suffolk-based on-line radio station GenX will be giving out stickers and producing their show that afternoon from the stadium and promoting mental health awareness.

The pits are open to the public from 12.30pm until 1.20pm

From the organising committee, Laurence Rogers explains more,

“The race jackets worn by each rider in both parts of the meeting will be signed and auctioned off after the meeting raising funds towards the futures of Danny’s two young daughters, where all the proceeds from this charity event are going.  There will also be other Speedway items in the auction, some donated by riders unable to make the meeting to ride…..so fans bring your piggy banks with you!

“Well known ex-riders are being invited to be in attendance and will be interviewed during the meeting and be available for photos and autographs.”

“All in all this should be a meeting not to miss and a great day out whilst remembering Speedway’s number 1 showman, Danny Ayres and raising funds for the futures of his two girls.”

Admission is £20 adults, £15 concessions with under 16’s free and can be paid n cash at the turnstiles. Advanced tickets can be ordered on try booking here: Dannys Day

A 44 page souvenir programme is being produced for the event and will be on sale at £5 inside the stadium.
