This Sunday (3:00pm start) sees the Mildenhall Fen Tigers, proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery, welcome the Thurrock ‘Hammers’ to their West Row home for what promises to be an exciting challenge fixture.

The directors of Thurrock have already taken an all-star line up to Kent as they look to keep speedway firmly at the forefront of supporter’s minds in Essex whilst seeking a new home for the Hammers. They come to Mildenhall with ex Fen Tigers Danny Halsey and Nathan Stoneman heading their line up alongside star newcomer of 2019, Belle Vue Colts number one Jordan Palin. With Richard Andrews (Plymouth) and Rob Ledwith (Kent) completing their top five this will prove a difficult task for the Fen Tigers.

They do though welcome back to the fold, for one afternoon, 2018 Fen Tigers star Ryan Kinsley to strengthen their line up and with Henry Atkins unable to make his debut due to Championship commitments will operate rider replacement for their new signing. Mildenhall also welcome back Charlie Brooks from injury and he will take his place at reserve for this meeting.

An added attraction to Sunday’s meeting is an MDL style fixture to follow the main event with the Fen Tiger Cubs taking on the Junior Hammers. The second half will be particularly poignant as it was to feature Mildenhall number 8 Sam Norris before he suffered serious head injuries last Sunday at Glasgow. This week has seen the Fen Tigers run a Sam Norris signed t-shirt auction in aid if Sam that has so far raised £430.00 and they will be selling t-shirts at Sundays meeting as well holding a collection for the Fen Tiger’s youngster.

Mildenhall General Manager Phil Kirk said “As a club we have been devastated by the news of Sam’s injury, and have been in regular contact with his Mum and Dad since Sunday. Thankfully Sam has been moved much closer to home now at Addenbrookes and can start his long road to recovery. We hope to be able to visit Sam next week and hopefully to be able to tell him of a Fen Tigers victory.

Although it has been hard to think about Sunday’s meeting too much, it should be a really high quality afternoon of racing and supporters will get the chance to see ‘Flyin Ryan’ Kinsley back ‘home’, as well as ex-Fen Tiger legend Danny Halsey who has already shown in two visits this season that he still knows the fastest way around our track. With the weather set fair and 21 heats of speedway on offer hopefully speedway fans will turn out in force”
