The Mildenhall Fen Tigers proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery crashed to a thirteen point defeat at Stoke on a difficult evening for the Suffolk side.
It was at reserve where the Fen Tigers were heavily outscored with both new signing Arran Butcher and Elliot Kelly managing just two points between them whilst Stoke had the trump card in Shelby Rutherford who scored paid thirteen from his five rides. After a torrid start that saw the Fen Tigers ten points down after four heats, including a heavy crash for new signing Henry Atkins when on a 5-1 with Jason Edwards, they pulled themselves back into the meeting with three consecutive heat advantages between heats six and eight. Heat wins from star guest Clegg plus the impressive Edwards and Matt Marson saw the deficit reduced to only five points. However, although holding that gap for the next three races Stoke hit Mildenhall hard with two 5-1’s to put the result to bed. Further race wins from Edwards and Clegg to finish the meeting could not put any gloss on a disappointing evening.
Speaking after the meeting Malcolm Vasey said “I am most disappointed with tonight’s result, we were in the meeting until heat twelve and really should have come away with a point. Rider replacement for Charlie didn’t work as we feared nd the reserves struggled all evening having to take ten rides between them. As always Max was a superb guest and both Jason and Matt put in strong performances for us. Henry had a big off in his first ride but battled on and we know we have signed a real Tiger in him.
We regroup now ahead of our next meeting and will look to bounce back against Thurrock”
