With originally-announced ‘Guest’ covering for the absent Jason Edwards, Lee Complin having to pull out for family reasons, the management team at Mildenhall Speedway -proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery – have pulled an ace out of the pack by drafting in, former Fen Tiger Connor Coles to occupy the number one race jacket for their win-at-all-costs visit to fellow Play Off contenders Kent Royals on Sunday (21/8).

The High Noon battle has taken on even greater significance for both teams who are playing catch up in the battle for the top four, after one of the sides above them they had aspirations of catching, Belle Vue Colts moved even further ahead; and now for the Fen Tigers it’s imperative that they take points from their next two away matches to stay in the hunt.

And having Coles as ‘Guest’ on Sunday could make the difference, noting that the rider 27-year-old who spent three seasons at West Row last decade, top scored at the home of the Royals earlier this year for his 2022 NDL side Leicester with 13 points.

And as co-team manager Jason Gardner, who is also current custodian of the club’s statistics, observes  being a ‘Guest’ for his former side is a common enough experience for Connor,

“After riding for us in 2014 to 2016, Coles has made at least one Guest appearance for Mildenhall in each subsequent season: that’s five years in a row!”
