The owners of Mildenhall Speedway are pleased to announce two changes for the 2022 season.
The Fen Tigers proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery will have joint Team Managers this season as Jason Gardner joins Malcom Vasey in the role. Jason is well known to many at Mildenhall as a fine club man, helping out with numerous tasks over the recent years, including running our second halves, writing in the programme and of course as our stats man!
Malcom will be taking Jason under his wing and passing on his great knowledge of team management and the sport in general. After consulting with Malcolm at the end of the 2021 season he agreed this would be a positive move for the club and that Jason was his choice as well as ours.
The second change is that experienced programme editor (over 20 years of experience) and fine Press Officer Derek Barclay will be joining the Fen Tigers. Derek has been involved with the likes of Wimbledon, Stoke, Isle of Wight, Peterborough and most recently Kent and this excellent wordsmith will be bringing a new improved look to the Mildenhall programme in 2022 and our press coverage.
Club co-owner Phil Kirk said “Both are well known to me personally and people I count as trusted and loyal friends. We are always looking to strengthen the club on and off the track and these two moves will certainly help us to do that. Derek will take considerable weight off myself and his skills in programme editing and press officer duties we know are of a very high standard.
We spoke with Malcolm at the end of our title winning year and the need for us to plan for the future, and Malcom was like us extremely positive about Jason joining him. Malcom has so much knowledge to share and there is no keener student than Jason, we are confident they will make an excellent team and that Jason will benefit from working with Malcom”.
