Taking a break from league action this Sunday the Mildenhall Fen Tigers, proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery, will race against a Fen Tigers select (3pm start), featuring some well known and much loved riders from recent times.

With both Sam Hagon and Luke Ruddick recovering from injuries sustained in the victory over the Leicester Lion Cubs last weekend it has been decided that both teams will feature 6 riders plus 2 of the up and coming 250cc riders who have been performing so well in second halves at Mildenhall in an 18 heat event.

The race format will be very different from the usual 15 heat meeting, will heats 1 to 15 being programmed with the 250cc pairings racing each other in heats 4,8 and 12 with their points counting to the overall result. Then the team managers will select their riders for the final three races before they take place pairing their six how they choose. Regular team manager Malcolm Vasey will take charge of the Fen Tigers whilst Jason Gardner will manage the Fen Tigers Select. There will also be a tactical substitute available to each Team Manager.

With only five riders at his disposal this Sunday the club have provided Vasey with one of the legends of Mildenhall Speedway to complete his team. Recently seen around our pits helping young Elliot Kelly get his season back on track, we welcome none other than JON ARMSTRONG back into Fen Tiger colours. Jon recently had a spin on the Isle of Wight and returns Sunday to a track he has always been a master of.

Not to be outdone, Jason Gardner’s Select team will be led by another fans favourite, from the incredible 2018 team, RYAN KINSLEY. Ryan is excited to return to Mildenhall not only to ride but to have the opportunity to thank supporters for the amazing collection that took place for him last weekend. Ryan will be joined by a rider whose family name runs through the club’s history from all the way back in 1975. Ex Fen Tiger Captain CONNOR COLES returns to the club where he had much success.

Many will remember that current Fen Tigers Jordan Jenkins and Sam Bebee both started their careers as Fen Tigers Cubs, well this there will be two ex-Tigers Cubs on each team as ALEX SPOONER and CONNOR KING return to Mildenhall to ride for the select team. The final two riders for the Fen Tigers select are 2018 League winning reserve RYAN TERRY-DALEY and recent 2021 reserve LUKE MUFF. Muff will no doubt be looking to build on his excellent final performance for the Fen Tigers in the recent 51-39 victory at Belle Vue and bring his own special celebrations to the event.

As announced last weekend supporters are invited to join the riders and management on track at the conclusion of the meeting to chat, obtain autographs & photos, walk the track and all children are invited to bring bikes, scooters etc and have a ride around the track. This is a repeat of an idea the club introduced in 2019 that proved highly successful with supporters and the management look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Gates will open at 1.30, with the parade at 2.40pm and first race at 3pm.
