With the sad demise of Eastbourne Speedway for the 2021 season, the Mildenhall Fen Tigers, proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery have moved to strengthen their team with the signing of exciting young reserve Nathan Ablitt pending formal BSPL approval (paperwork submitted last Thursday prior to the transfer deadline).

Ablitt, who had been scoring big points for Eastbourne has one more meeting at reserve before moving into the main body, will not be available for the meeting at Belle Vue next Friday due to a concussion suffered at Mildenhall on Sunday, but will take his place in the side for the final four league meetings. With the ‘transfer deadline’ coming up this weekend the club had to move quickly to secure a rider who was due to line up as a Fen Tiger before covid halted the 2020 season.

Ablitt replaces the unlucky Luke Muff who leaves with the thanks and best wishes of everyone at the club for his efforts, team Manager Malcolm Vasey sai“ This was no easy decision for the owners and myself, Luke is a great team man and it has been a pleasure to have him at the club, he has done everything asked of him and was improving with experience. We all wish him the very best and thank him for his efforts and we will help him where we can with practice time at the club. But and it is a big but, in speedway things change quickly and with the Eastbourne situation coming to a head we had the opportunity to sign a highly talented young rider already gaining Championship experience who is riding as a reserve in our league. We felt we owed it to our supporters to make this move to strengthen the side and hopefully continue to move up the league.

I was very much looking forward to Nathan being with us for the 2020 season, but covid put paid to that and I thought the chance had gone, but now he joins us for the remainder of the 2021 season as we look to finish the season in style. He is an exciting talent and it will be great to welcome him to the club for the home meeting versus Leicester on September 12th.”
