With rain again arriving close to start time, it looked like another home rain off for the Mildenhall Fen Tigers, proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery, but thankfully the rain abated and with the track in perfect meeting an exciting afternoons racing saw the Fen Tigers run out 50-39 victors.

The Fen Tigers welcomed back number one Jason Edwards and Captain Jordan Jenkins and both riders led from the front with paid 13 and 13 respectively. Jenkins only missing out on a maximum due to a second infringement at the gate which saw him have to come off a 15 metre penalty in his second ride. Youngster Elliot Kelly showed the form that had deserted him so far this season under the support and guidance of Jon Armstrong and raced to an excellent win over Armadale number one Nathan Greaves.

As solid Armadale side stayed in contention and were only three points behind going into heat thirteen, before Jenkins and Edwards combined for a 4-2 over Nathan Greaves and Tom Woolley. Another 4-2 from Luke Ruddick and Sam Hagon confirmed the win before a wonderful heat fifteen saw Edwards and Greaves in a tremendous battle before the Fen Tiger came through on the line to join his Captain for a 5-1 that sent the home fans away with smiles on their faces.

After the meeting many supporters stayed behind to see Sam Norris have his first rides back at Mildenhall since his accident, followed by a full second half.

After the meeting Malcolm Vasey was relieved to get a first win on the board - he said “ It was great to have all seven riders available today and the team spirit was very positive. Everyone contributed our victory and we now have a solid base to build on.

Elliot was smiling again, clearly responding to the help he was receiving from Jon Armstrong in the pits and both Jordan and Jason returned to the team and put in fine performances. The averages will now change for some of the team, so we will sit down next week and work out how best we will line up.

On behalf of the management can I thank our supporters today, with the weather inclement early in the day it was fantastic that so many of you turned out and your backing was greatly appreciated”
