The new Mildenhall Speedway consortium has added Phil Kirk to their ranks as the club heads into a new era. Previously the Fen Tigers Team Manager Kirk will hand over that role to Malcolm Vasey as he moves ‘upstairs’ to work alongside Lee Chipchase in a general management role at the club for the 2019 season.

Chipchase was pleased to welcome his friend and colleague from the last three seasons back to the club in a new role – he said “Phil requested some time out at the end of last season due to personal reasons and I was happy to wait for his decision once he was ready to make it. The good news is he will remain with the club and work alongside myself on the day to day running of Mildenhall Speedway as we look to raise the clubs profile locally and improve the meeting day experience for sponsors and supporters. We are keen to play a bigger role in the local community and whilst this will not happen overnight we are confident that with the support of our excellent sponsors this is achievable and will help strengthen the clubs foundations for the future.

This new role will also help free up Phil’s time considerably as his commitment to the club over the last few years has been unquestionable but very time consuming.

Sponsorship is going well and we have a team in place that we feel will challenge in all competitions, so it is full steam ahead now that the New Year is upon us. We hope to be able to announce a date for our Meet the Riders evening in the coming weeks and are currently working on sorting out our fixtures for the forthcoming season. This is a big learning curve for us, but we now have the right structure, I feel, in place and we must thank Kevin (Jolly) and the BSPA who have been very helpful in guiding us in the right direction”
